Are you a student and wouldn’t be against a financial boost? There are many devices in France that can relieve your student budget. Housing, health, international mobility or permits… we take stock!

Housing assistance

On the CAF side, there are various aid schemes which are not exclusively reserved for students but from which they can benefit under certain conditions. This is particularly the case of APL (personalized housing benefits), ALS (social housing allowances) or ALF (family housing allowances). To find out if you are eligible for one of CAF’s aid, you must go to their website to simulate your resources and make a request.

In the Paris region, there is assistance reserved for scholarship students looking for accommodation. This device called AILE (assistance with settling into student accommodation) aims to help scholarship students who have not been able to benefit from student accommodation in a Crous residence. It aims to give them a financial boost to equip their homes with furniture or appliances. The amount of aid is around 900 €.

Mobility aids during studies

Going abroad for training or an internship often comes at a cost for students. Several financial aid systems exist depending in particular on the country and the student’s resources. It is recommended to find out quickly if you want to benefit from it because the procedures are often long. The best-known aids are the Erasmus + grant and the aid for international mobility.

There are also regional aid such as the international mobility grant for students and apprentices in higher education (in Auvergne Rhône Alpes), aid for study placements abroad (in New Aquitaine) or international mobility for young people (in Burgundy Franche Comté). Do not hesitate to contact your school counselor to find out the details.

Medical costs can quickly add up and reduce student resources. Subscribing to a student mutual insurance generally allows the student to be better covered in the event of health concerns because the mutual insurance supplements the costs not covered by social security. If you are a student, you may be eligible for the Solidarity Health Supplement. You can do a simulation on the ameli.fr site to find out if you are eligible. If you live in the Occitanie Pyrénées region, you can also find out about the Student Mutual Pass.

Driver’s license aids

There are several regional aids dedicated to young people who wish to obtain their driving license. In the Pays de la Loire region, this is the case of the permit pass which finances the passage of the permit up to € 400. In Midi-Pyrénées, this is a flat-rate driver’s license assistance of 500 €. Not all students can benefit from these aids because they are granted under conditions. If you are already registered in a driving school, do not hesitate to ask your instructor or the manager who will certainly be informed.

Whatever your need, there is a site that lists all the available aids and makes your life easier. This site is Wizbii Money
(see the site). Thanks to a simulator, you can quickly discover the aid to which you are entitled. Wizbii Money is a free site but you can opt for a premium version if you need support in your administrative procedures.
